Matraz de Le Chatelier

Le Chatelier Flask is a laboratory-standard glass vessel designed to reliably and reproducibly determine the specific gravity of hydraulic cement as well as other fine binders such as lime, fly ash, and slag. The borosilicate glass body provides resistance to impact and thermal shock, while the ground glass stopper ensures leak-tightness and minimizes vapor loss during measurements using volatile liquids. For easy reading, the narrow neck features a high-contrast, finely graduated scale; the neck graduations cover the ranges of 0–1 mL and 18–24 mL in 0.1 mL increments, allowing precise meniscus alignment. The flask body has an approximate volume of 250 mL, providing sufficient space for uniform placement of the sample and measurement liquid, and facilitating thermal equilibrium between repeated readings. The chemically resistant glass withstands surface degradation during consecutive tests when appropriate solvents are used. For compatibility with standard laboratory setups, the flask can be securely clamped with a stand or holder and is suitable for preconditioning in thermostatic water baths. The flask is designed to meet the dimensional accuracy and reading precision required by international methods for specific gravity determination.
