Dispositivo de límite líquido, Casagrande

Liquid Limit Device (Casagrande) is a mechanical laboratory instrument designed to determine the liquid limit of fine-grained soils. Grooving tools, reference gauges, and sample cups are available separately.

Engineered with a rigid body, wear-resistant cam mechanism, and a calibrated drop height, it provides consistent and repeatable results. A brass soil cup located on the upper assembly is machined to a standardized thickness and mass to ensure uniform transmission of impact to the soil. The cam profile lifts the cup by a constant height during each rotation and ensures a calibrated free-fall. The drop height is adjusted using a precision limiting screw and reference gauge; a locking feature maintains settings between tests. The body is mounted on a single-piece frame that dampens vibrations. The hard rubber base has a specified Shore hardness to control energy absorption during impact; its uniform surface ensures consistent seating of the cup. Rubber feet prevent slipping. A stroke/rotation counter is integrated into the frame, allowing each drop cycle to be clearly monitored.
