Heat of Hydration of Cement Calorimeter is a high-precision laboratory device that measures the heat released during cement hydration using a vacuum-insulated Dewar vessel, constant-speed stirring, and a high-resolution thermometer, providing accurate data on cement reactivity, hydration rate, and heat evolution.
Heat of Hydration of Cement Calorimeter is a high-precision laboratory device designed to accurately measure the heat energy released during the hydration process of cement. This system is particularly used to determine the early and late hydration characteristics of Portland, hydraulic, and low-heat cements. The obtained data reveal the chemical reactivity of the cement, the rate of hydration, and the heat evolution curve. The apparatus consists of a vacuum Dewar vessel that minimizes heat loss, an insulated outer casing, a constant-speed stirring system, and a high-resolution digital thermometer. The fundamental principle of the device is to measure the amount of heat generated by the hydration reaction in the cement-water mixture through the resulting temperature increase in the insulated system. The sample is placed in the stirring container inside the Dewar vessel. Water is added at a specified temperature, and the mixture is homogenized at a constant speed using the integrated electric stirrer. Meanwhile, the high-precision digital thermometer monitors temperature changes with 0.01 °C resolution. The measured temperature increase is converted directly into heat energy in joules or cal/g according to the system’s calibration constant. The Dewar system, with its double-walled vacuum construction, almost completely prevents heat exchange with the environment. This ensures that during the test, the internal temperature is influenced solely by the reaction energy, eliminating measurement deviations caused by external temperature fluctuations. The outer body of the calorimeter is covered with high-density thermal insulation and housed within a robust metal enclosure for protection.
