Micro-Deval Apparatus EN is engineered to determine the abrasion and fragmentation resistance of aggregates subjected to the combined action of water and steel balls. Stainless steel test drums mounted on a rigid steel frame rotate on abrasion-resistant drive rollers at a controlled speed of 100 ± 5 rpm, ensuring consistent mechanical energy application and repeatable test conditions throughout each cycle. During testing, each drum of the Micro-Deval Apparatus EN is filled with aggregate, Ø10 mm steel balls, and water. After completion of the rotation cycle, the sample is removed, dried, and the percentage loss of fine material is measured to calculate the Micro-Deval value. Fully sealed drum lids with a locking and sealing system prevent leakage, even during extended test durations. The machine body is equipped with a control unit featuring a digital revolution counter and an automatic stop function that halts drum rotation once the preset number of revolutions is reached. Safety features include emergency stop, over-current protection, and optional safety-switch lid or cabinet configurations. Two drum configurations are available to provide flexibility in testing capacity: four drums of Ø200 × 154 mm or two drums of Ø200 × 400 mm, allowing testing of both standard aggregate sizes and coarse materials such as railway ballast. Drum interiors feature abrasion-resistant surfaces for extended service life, while the balanced drive system ensures stable rotational performance. The wide discharge opening and stainless steel collection tray facilitate fast unloading and easy cleaning, making the Micro-Deval Apparatus EN suitable for routine laboratory use and long-term operation.
