V Funnel

V Funnel is a precision testing apparatus designed to measure the viscosity, flow time, and segregation tendency of Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC) in accordance with TS EN 12350-9 standards.

V Funnel is a testing apparatus designed to measure the viscosity and flow time of Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC), manufactured in accordance with TS EN 12350-9 “Testing fresh concrete – Part 9: V-funnel test.” This test evaluates the rate at which SCC flows through a narrow cross section under its own weight, providing reliable information about concrete flow viscosity, segregation tendency, and mix stability. The apparatus consists of a V-shaped stainless-steel body, a controlled open/close trap door, and a high-rigidity support frame. During testing, concrete is placed into the top of the V-funnel and leveled. When the trap door is opened, the concrete begins to flow freely under its own weight through the bottom outlet. The time recorded on a stopwatch from opening until the flow stops is defined as the V-funnel time (t), which directly indicates concrete viscosity. It can also be used for the T5-minute test. In this option, the flow time is measured again five minutes after the initial test, and the two results are compared to assess the mixture’s segregation tendency and time-dependent workability loss.
