Workable Life, Stiffening Time & Setting Time Apparatus
Workable Life, Stiffening/Setting Time Apparatus is a load-cell-based penetration system that periodically measures resistance and penetration depth to determine the workable life, stiffening onset, and final setting time of cement, mortar, grout, and gypsum mixtures on a single test platform.
Workable Life, Stiffening / Setting Time Apparatus is designed to monitor workable life, onset of stiffening, and setting time of cement-, mortar-, grout-, and gypsum-based binders reliably and repeatably on a single platform. The apparatus consists of a load cell–integrated stand, loading column, penetration rod, and a standard specimen container. The test is based on periodically penetrating the specimen surface with the rod. As the mixture stiffens over time, penetration depth decreases; when the rod can no longer penetrate to the specified depth, the resistance value measured by the load cell indicates the time at which the material loses workability.
