Capping Set for Concrete Cylinders is designed to prepare cylinder specimen end surfaces to be smooth, perpendicular, and properly conditioned for compressive loading. The system provides all components required for sulfur-based capping operations. A vertical alignment frame with a machined steel base and rigid guide columns ensures that capping plates are perfectly aligned with the specimen axis. Capping plates are precision-machined to suit standard cylinder diameters (Ø75, Ø100, and Ø150 mm); optional plates are available for additional sizes. A thermostat-controlled melting pot is included to heat the sulfur compound to a stable, uniform temperature. The recommended working temperature is approximately 130 °C, ensuring proper fluidity for good surface wetting and adhesion between the plate and the specimen. Fast setting of the sulfur compound shortens specimen preparation time. Operation is straightforward: the cylinder is placed in the alignment frame, molten sulfur is poured, and the capping plate is positioned to level the surface. The process allows technicians to prepare specimens quickly with minimal effort. The Capping Set is supplied with the vertical alignment frame, melting pot, appropriately sized plates, and basic hand tools. Additional plates can be provided to accommodate different diameters and heights, allowing laboratories to expand capability without replacing the base system.
