Based on the cone penetration principle, it utilizes the fall-cone method, an internationally accepted alternative to the traditional Casagrande approach and compliant with EN ISO 17892-12, BS 1377-2, ASTM D4318, and NF P94-052-1 standards. Semi-automatic operation minimizes user error, increases test repeatability, and provides digitally controlled test execution. The test principle involves releasing a standardized cone onto a soil specimen and measuring the penetration depth after a specified time. The liquid limit value is obtained by correlating penetration depth with the water content of the specimen. This method enables accurate classification of fine-grained soils. In the semi-automatic version, the cone release is controlled by an electromagnetic mechanism. A timer precisely regulates the fall duration, eliminating timing delays associated with manual release and ensuring repeatable results under identical test conditions. Penetration is measured using a digital scale with a 0.01 mm resolution.
