The apparatus consists of a V-shaped stainless-steel body, a controlled open\/close trap door, and a high-rigidity support frame. During testing, concrete is placed into the top of the V-funnel and leveled. When the trap door is opened, the concrete begins to flow freely under its own weight through the bottom outlet. The time recorded on a stopwatch from opening until the flow stops is defined as the V-funnel time (t), which directly indicates concrete viscosity. It can also be used for the T5-minute test.
