Specific Gravity Bottles (Pycnometers)

Specific Gravity Bottles (Pycnometers) are close-tolerance volumetric containers designed for determining specific gravity (relative density) of fine-grained materials and chemical liquids.

The thick-walled borosilicate glass body resists thermal shock and chemical interaction; dimensional stability ensures repeatable results during long-term use. The bottle mouth is sealed with a ground-glass joint and a stopper with capillary hole. The capillary allows controlled venting of trapped air and supports repeatable filling at constant volume. Stopper–neck fit is ground to a tight tolerance for reliable sealing; configurations with glass or PTFE stoppers are available. The product family is offered in several capacities to meet laboratory requirements (typically 50 mL, 100 mL, 250 mL, 500 mL). Each bottle is calibrated at 20 °C and marked as “to contain” for consistent measurement among samples. Each stopper is paired to its bottle to maintain sealing precision; optional protective cap and carrying sleeve are available.
