Automatic Direct and Residual Shear Box Machine (Dead-Weight Type)

Automatic Direct and Residual Shear Box Machine (Dead-Weight Type)  supports drained (CD), undrained (CU), and consolidated–undrained (UU) tests, as well as residual and cyclic shear modes. The mechanical system consists of a high-rigidity steel platform equipped with a backlash-free, step-motor-driven precision screw mechanism. Shear rate can be controlled within 0.00001 to 10.00000 mm/min, maintaining constant speed during long-duration testing. A 5 kN-capacity loading unit applies horizontal shear force. Modular shear boxes with dimensions 60×60 mm, 100×100 mm, and 300×300 mm allow testing of different soil types. A 24-bit ADC system, 0.001 mm-resolution displacement sensors, and optional pore-pressure sensors provide micron-level data accuracy throughout the test. Limit switches and mechanical end-stops protect both the specimen and the equipment. The software interface controls all test stages automatically. After inputting test parameters, the system performs shearing, stopping, and data logging autonomously. Load–displacement graphs are displayed in real time, and cohesion (c) and internal friction angle (φ) are automatically calculated at the end of the test. In residual shear mode, the device continues shearing after the peak strength is reached and records the residual strength once the shear plane is fully mobilized. In cyclic mode, the screw-driven actuator applies repeated loading according to user-defined patterns. After the test, the system generates reports compliant with international standards. Reports include shear stress–displacement curves, peak and residual strength values, and c–φ calculations. Data may be exported in PDF or Excel format. The high-resolution sensors and precision linear drive system ensure stable performance during long-term testing, providing smooth, low-friction motion and highly repeatable results.
